Rocca dei Terzi of Sissa
The Tower Clock marks the slow passage of time between myth and reality
Each Castle on the Po tells a story suspended between myth and reality. The Rocca dei Terzi of Sissa is one of the most fascinating both on sunny days and on foggy evenings. To mark the passing of time is the Clock of the Tower, datable between 1450 and 1550 with the iron mechanism that is a true jewel of ancient engineering. The history of the castle revolves around the Terzi family, protagonists of the historical-political events of Northern Italy for over two centuries. Beautiful frescoes, including those of Galeotti, decorate the walls of the interior rooms where the voices of ancient inhabitants of the castle still seem to echo. Someone claims to have heard it as "a blink of punches" by Vittoria Terzi. The girl, daughter of Giuda Terzi and Paola Lanfranchi, was the protagonist of "an unlived love" with Morello di Parma, a family member of Galeazzo Sforza. Her mother had forcibly locked her up in the convent of San Domenico in Parma to prevent the two young men from being reunited. In the end, despite the mediation of the Duke of Milan, it was not possible to celebrate the marriage and the two boys never saw each other again. For this reason, Bianca still beats her fists on the door of the room in which she was locked up.
