Rocca di Stellata
A good spirit, protector of lovers, hovers near the Rocca
The tourist may be amazed by the curious architecture of the Rocca of Stellata. Behind the project there were both defensive and commercial purposes. The Rocca di Stellata is located on the southern bank of the river Po near Bondeno, in the province of Ferrara. It was connected to Rocca Benedetta by a chain to its twin. The latter has now been destroyed and the ruins come out in the dry periods of the Po. The chain represented a barrier that forced ships to stop to pay duty. The star shape, on the other hand, allowed to defend itself from enemy artillery shots. Finally, there is no shortage of myths and legends. In the village of Stellata is handed down the story of a good spirit protector of lovers that hovers near the Rocca.
